Former Newcastle striker Alan Shearer has urged his team-mates to fight hard to win the Carabao Cup on Sunday to end their long wait for success.

Newcastle are set to host Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday, March 16, with the Magpies hoping to secure their first trophy in 56 years.

“The wait for a major trophy เล่น UFABET ผ่านมือถือ สะดวกทุกที่ ทุกเวลา for Newcastle is long beyond belief, with the club’s last trophy coming in 1969 in the original Fairs Cup, while the FA Cup was their most recent domestic success in 1955,” Shearer said.

“It’s incredible for a club as big as Newcastle to not win anything since then. It’s hard to accept, but it will happen again one day and I hope it’s Sunday.”

“Winning the trophy on Sunday would change everything for Newcastle. Eddie Howe can control his own destiny.”

“I’ve spoken to Bob Moncur, the last captain to lift the trophy in 1969, and it will be special to end the long wait,”

“No-one would ever be able to take that away from this group of players and coaching staff.”

“When the whistle goes, I want to see passion and fight. I want to see all the traits of Eddie and Newcastle over the years that have got them into this position.”

“When the whistle blows, I want to see passion and fight. I want everyone to give their all and bring victory back to Newcastle.”
